Funnel templates
Affiliate bridge funnel
Sending cold clicks straight to someone else's sales page wastes them. A bridge page and a short email sequence turn clicks into people who trust you.
This page contains paid links to Systeme.io. We may earn a commission if you sign up through them. Disclosure.
An affiliate bridge funnel sits between your traffic and the product you promote. Instead of sending a stranger straight to a vendor's sales page (where you lose them forever if they do not buy), you send them to your own page first, capture their email, and then recommend the product with your own context.
- Your contentreview, video, post
- Bridge pageyour angle + opt-in
- Thank-you pagebonus + affiliate link
- Email follow-uptips, honest review
- Vendor pagethey buy there
Why a bridge page beats a direct link
- You keep the lead. Even if they do not buy today, you can email them again.
- You add context. Your experience, who the product suits, who it does not.
- You can offer a bonus of your own, such as a setup checklist.
- You can promote more than one product over time to the same list.
What goes on the bridge page
- A headline about the problem, not the product name.
- A short story or explanation of how you solved it.
- An email form for a related freebie, or a clear button to the product.
- A clear affiliate disclosure near the link, not only in the footer.
Disclosure is not optional
The FTC's guidance on endorsements says affiliate marketers should disclose the relationship clearly and conspicuously, as close to the recommendation as possible. It also says the phrase "affiliate link" on its own may not be understood, while something like "I get commissions for purchases made through links in this post" is. Put the disclosure in your emails as well as your pages. Emails promoting products must also follow CAN-SPAM: a valid postal address, a working unsubscribe and an honest subject line.
The follow-up sequence
- Deliver the freebie and say why you made it.
- Teach one thing that helps whether or not they buy.
- Honest review: what you like, what you do not, who it is for, with the disclosure and link.
- Comparison or alternative: show you are not pushing one tool at all costs.
- Bonus reminder if you offer one, with a real end date if there is one.
Rules to check before you start
- Read the affiliate program's terms. Some forbid bidding on their brand name in ads, some forbid email promotion, some require approval of bonuses.
- Never make income claims you cannot back up, and do not imply results are typical when they are not.
- Do not invent reviews or testimonials.
Tools
A bridge funnel needs a page, a form, email automation and nothing else: no checkout, because the vendor handles the sale. That fits comfortably on a free plan. Systeme.io's free plan includes 3 sales funnels and unlimited email sends to up to 2,000 contacts, and affiliate commissions you earn elsewhere do not count toward its free plan sales limit, per its help center (that limit applies to sales made through your own Systeme.io payment pages).
Systeme.io also runs its own affiliate program, which is how this site is funded; see our affiliate disclosure.
Frequently asked questions
Is a bridge page allowed by affiliate programs?
Most allow it, but rules vary. Check each program's terms, especially about paid ads and email.
Where should the affiliate disclosure go?
Near the recommendation and the link, in plain words, on the page and in every email that includes an affiliate link.
Can I promote more than one product to the same list?
Yes, and it is usually healthier. Recommend what genuinely fits each reader's problem.
